The candidate will provide engineering support for the maintenance and operation of the crane program required to support processing of the D5 weapon system at SWFLANT in Kings Bay, Georgia. What will you be working on? – The job functions include engineering support and technical guidance associated with the design, modification, maintenance, fabrication, installation, testing, and review of crane equipment and installations including engineering technical investigations to enhance crane reliability and operating effectiveness. – Monitor crane activity report logs on a periodic basis and evaluate repetitive discrepancies for corrective action. – Support weight test activities through development of weight test instructions and participation in weight tests. – Provide safety engineering guidance related to crane hardware, processing, and personnel safety. – Provide assistance for crane alteration accomplishment and subsequent testing, as required. – Review proposed changes and prepare recommended changes to crane documentation. – Coordinate with Contractor, Associate Contractor, Navy Crane Center, Base On-Site Contractor, production, and materiel organizations. – Provide engineering review, troubleshooting, and disposition recommendations for discrepant crane hardware. – Provide failure diagnosis and recommend corrective action on crane malfunctions. – Develop, prepare, and maintain concepts, criteria, designs, specifications, and documentation regarding the acquisition of new crane hardware. Basic Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college with Mechanical Engineering degree preferred (Electrical Engineering with significant mechanical experience will be considered). – Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen. – Must be able to obtain and maintain radiation control certification. – Must be able to climb ladders to gain access to crane hardware. Open to working with heights.
Desired Skills:
– Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting electromechanical systems. – Familiarization with test and data collection instruments. – Demonstrated leadership ability. – Proficiency in Creo Parametric modeling software. – Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word/Powerpoint/Excel/Project). – Demonstrated technical expertise/experience, technical breadth, effective communication skills (oral and written), and effective interpersonal skills. – Knowledge and proficiency in hydraulic systems, gear sets, bearings and lubrication preferred. – Familiarity with heavy industrial equipment.
