Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor-Westwood Evening Full Time

ResponsibilitiesThe R.N. Supervisor is a licensed professional nurse responsible and accountable for the nursing care of a group of residents for a designated time frame. The R.N. Supervisor is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care given to designated residents and their families. Acts as a resident advocate ensuring that resident needs are met through a collaborative effort of all health care disciplines. The R.N. Supervisor may function as a primary nurse, team leader, team member or charge nurse.The R.N. Supervisor is supervised by the Director of Nursing and supervises all unit nursing staff assigned to work with him/her during the designated time frame. This could include LPN and Certified Nursing Assistants. Accountability is monitored through patient care conferences, QAPI Activities, and performance appraisals.QualificationsEDUCATIONGraduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONCurrent licensure in the State of Georgia as an R.N. Obtains and maintains CPR Skills.EXPERIENCERecent experience (within four years) as R.N. in long term care or hospital setting preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.Nursing knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the residents served.Nursing knowledge of the disease and health care needs of the resident population served.Assessment, analytical, and synthesis skills sufficient to interpret and analyze resident health data; identify nursing diagnoses; prioritize needs; and develop an individualized plan of care.Evaluation skills adequate to evaluate resident response to care and take appropriate action.Competence in interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with residents, families, visitors, team members, physicians and other personnel with whom daily interactions must take place.Basic knowledge of and skills in management sufficient to effectively supervise team personnel when acting as Team Leader.Competence in interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively as a team member on a team with varying levels of health care workers.Problem solving skills sufficient to allow effective problem/conflict resolution.Demonstrates traits of initiative and dependability.Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.Philosophy of health care service is compatible with that of the mission of U.E.C., Inc. and University Health, Inc.PHYSICAL ABILITIESABLE TO:Stand for periods, 6-8 hrs.Sit for extended periods of timeBend and stoopWalk for long periodsTransfer; position heavy residents; not to exceed 40 lbs. when acting aloneSensory: sight to observe resident symptomsAuditory to hear residents, measure BP, evaluate heart and lung sounds, respond to alarms and signalsTactile to feel residents symptoms (warmth, induration)Olfactory to smell disease specific smells and safety hazards
