Lead Systems Engineer

The Lead Systems Engineer reports into ConnecturesTechnology Operations department.

The Lead Systems Engineer works with othermembers of the Technology Operations team to deliver high quality solutions to supportour hosted clients within the health insurance industry.

The Systems Engineer will workwith multiple operating systems (Windows and Linux) and multiple networking components(corporate and hosted production environments) and support our products on each of theseplatforms.

The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining all corporatenetworking and security components, as well as working with the COLO Hosting Vendor tosupport the Production Hosting environment.

The Lead Systems Engineer will be theprimary systems engineer and will be expected to provide and set the architecture and bestpractices for operating a production hosting environment.

The Lead Systems Engineer willreport to the Manager of Technology Operations.The essential responsibilities of the Lead Systems Engineer are to.

Provide server and software support for Connectures employees and project teams Provide onsite and remote server administration, setup, and configuration andmaintenance Responsible for maintaining server hardware architecture and inventory, includingprocurement and specifications Responsible for repairing servers, both internally and via vendor support Responsible for the creation and conversion to a virtualized infrastructure providingefficient processes to quickly stand up and archive server environments Perform tape and disk-based backups for corporate and production environments aswell as maintaining offsite tape rotation strategies Will manage Server images, security hardening of servers, and performremediation of discovered vulnerabilities Provide corporate networking and security support to internal users and toexternal client requests Responsible for creation of system images and quarterly updates using corporate approved imaging tool Responsible for maintaining system images for Disaster Recovery as well asdefining and testing Disaster Recovery procedures Provide troubleshooting support with networking services including VLANs,Routing and Switching Responsible for coordinating and implementing project based work Responsible for maintaining licensing for both hardware and software systems Responsible for backend storage devices such as Nimble and Dell Powervault Work closely with internal teams to troubleshoot software related issues Help support monthly server maintenance Help support proactive monitoring using SolarWinds Part of on-call support 24x7What we are looking for: Experience with HP, Dell and Cisco Server hardware preferred Experience with Windows 2008/2008 R2/ 2012 required Experience with ITIL best practices preferred Experience with VMWare/VSphere setup and configuration required Experience with IIS 6.0 and IIS 7.0 required Provide architecture, set best practices and provide highly available solutionsrequiring minimal maintenance Define troubleshooting procedures and processes to quickly determine the causeof any availability issue Detailed-orientedOrganizational skills Comprehend and perform job duties without a lot of direction; self-starter/self motivator Communication skills, both verbal and written Understanding of network and system troubleshooting skills Hosting operations support / data center experience preferred Strong documentation skills including experience with diagramming networkenvironments and creating instructional documentation for users systems Able to lead some internal projects with little oversight from the TechnologyOperations ManagementMust be proficient in evaluating, configuring, and troubleshooting new technology(hardware and software platforms) to successful conclusion within Connecturesbusiness and technology model.
