Maintenance/Fabrication Technician- 1st shift

This is a Contract position in Pendergrass, GA posted May 12, 2022.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Primarily responsible for assisting in the fabrication shop. Must be able to correctly use dial calipers, a four jaw chuck, turn-table, hold specified tolerances, and build jigs. Must be able to read venires, blueprints, and analog micrometer (and understand them). Must be able to operate a general lathe, vertical manual milling machine, Carpentry, concrete, tile, and drywall work experience will be beneficial, in addition to welding (T.I.G., M.I.G., Stick)

Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

•Under general supervision, repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery (i.e. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems, etc) using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
•Identify root cause of basic mechanical issues and performs repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective component; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required
•Identify unsafe conditions and corrects; reports to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own
•Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed
•Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
•All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required

•Basic computer skills required

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Fluent in English (writing, reading, speaking, comprehension)
Intermediate computer skills including experience with email and Microsoft Word (Database experience and Excel are a plus)
Must have neat and legible handwriting (in English)
Math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
Excellent verbal communication skills required
Good writing skills including spelling, grammar, and proofreading
Must be able to count accurately and have strong attention to detail
Flexible, able to work for multiple supervisors with different styles as well as for different departments. Able to work Saturdays and Sundays. Also, must be willing to take breaks at flexible times.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

•Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
•Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

•Stand up to 8 hours
•Lift up to 40 lbs
•May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)
•Exposure to wet and dusty environment
•Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling
•Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
•Work around raw, live animal odors
