Unpaid Volunteer ServiceWe are looking for individuals with big hearts and empathy to help us show compassion to patients and their families.

Volunteer opportunties available: visiting with patients, caregiver support, pet therapy, massage therapy, bereavement care, art and painting classes, clerical support and assisting with exciting events.

We look forward to working with you!Job Summary:To provide unpaid volunteer services to the hospice patients and their families.Qualifications:Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to accept the changing needs of a hospice programSound judgment in regards to issues of death and dyingAvailable for training and continuing educationInteracts tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with patients and familiesMaintains all scheduled visits and adheres to Homestead Hospice policy and proceduresOffice clerical volunteer must be 16 years of age or olderResponsibilities:Completes the hospice volunteer training sessions and in-servicesParticipates in hospice quality improvement programsSubmits documentation of volunteer activity in an accurate and timely mannerAdheres to all company policies and proceduresCommunicates appropriate clinical information to the Volunteer CoordinatorProvides spiritual and emotional support to patients and their familiesMaintains confidentiality of necessary informationReports all grievances or complaints made by patients or families to the appropriate personsReports all allegations of patient abuse and/or misappropriation of patient’s property to Volunteer CoordinatorEnsures that all services are provided with respect for patient rightsFollows standard precautions and infection control proceduresReports all accidents and incidents observed to Volunteer CoordinatorThinks and acts calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the jobCommunicates effectively with patients and familiesMust wear name badgeOffer privacy when necessaryProvide appropriate touch (on hands)Contact Volunteer Coordinator if patient visit changes We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
