Advocacy Engagement Manager

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to improving the lives of all people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care, their families, and communities through supporting our members, is currently seeking an Advocacy Engagement Manager.

The Advocacy Engagement Manager executes programs and initiatives focused on cultivating and empowering members to lead advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels, advancing political advocacy priorities based on ACOG’s Commitment to Policy Action.

This position is responsible for overseeing ACOG’s “grassroots” and “grasstops” advocacy efforts.

Manage the federal and state-level member advocacy activities in coordination with the federal, state, and political teams, including developing the strategy and content for organizing our member advocates via outreach and social media, growing ACOG’s network of engaged physician advocates, and monitoring participation and impact of outreach activities.

Coordinate with political team to identify, develop and execute local member-based political fundraising and outreach opportunities and strategies (such as “Get Out the Vote” and political literacy endeavors).

Serve as primary event coordinator for ACOG’s Congressional Leadership Conference (CLC) to include planning, organizing and the execution of all aspects of the event.

Direct and manage ACOG member advocacy engagement and leadership development, including membership educational opportunities for advocacy and other in-person or virtual opportunities.

Oversee ACOG advocacy fellowship programs, including communicating opportunities to ACOG members, organizing applications for review, and coordinating meetings and events for the awardee(s).

Maintain a working knowledge of policy trends, upcoming legislation and emerging issues of importance to ACOG and its members.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of 5 years of experience with political or grassroots organizing or engagement, or a relevant degree and commensurate experience.

Experience with event planning and coordination preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills; social media experience is preferred; knowledge of message design and audience targeting experience is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work both cooperatively as well as independently; ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Experience with political action platforms (e.g., Quorum) or the ability to learn new platforms is necessary.

Due to the responsibilities of this position, working evenings and weekends will be necessary.

Travel may be required.
