Area Operations Manager

This is a Full-time position in Kennesaw, GA posted November 15, 2021.

Overview

The Area Operations Manager (AOM) will manage area/district sales budgets and provide all financial reporting and analysis for assigned area and located in Atlanta, GA. Responsibilities include growth of profitable market share through managing area expenses and headcount, following best practices across the sales and customer service organizations, and ensuring proper utilization of resources. Must establish methods to deliver an appropriate return on the investments Kaman Distribution has made in its state-of-the-art technology in telecommunications, ERP (Infor SXe) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop training materials and effectively deliver those materials in a team environment to ensure management employees throughout the organization are trained in continuous improvement.
  • Leverage the phone network technology to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Monitors sales and margin results from individuals with authorization to do order entry.
  • Monitors CS loading as a result of order and quote entry by branch and individual in addition to the financial metrics of the branch.
  • Monitors credit and collections for Area accounts and brings relevant issues to the attention of management for resolution.
  • Project Manager for branch moves and consolidations.
  • Manages all financial and sales analysis for the area.
  • Drives achievement of area sales and profit by establishing sales and profit targets for each district and each Professional Account Manager. Establishes and manages a process of regular follow-up to assure individual accountability and progress toward targets.
  • Monitors the Territory Management Plans (TMP’s) of the area’s sales force.
  • Provides data and analysis and establishes best practices throughout the area.
  • Oversees productivity and process improvements. Works within company guidelines to ensure achievement of company and area sales, freight recovery, gross profit and gross margin targets.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define planning for specific improvement projects, project communications, monitor progress, maintains action areas and collects quantifiable savings in support of project objectives. Audit the progress of projects to ensure results are achieved and sustained.
  • Coordinates the financial activities of area sales and serves as the area financial expert. Responsible for all area financial and sales reporting.
  • Coordinates needs of the area regarding headcount, compensation and incentive payouts.
  • Manages and coordinates the fleet and facility needs of the area with Operations and Site Support.
  • Coordinates with Customer Service and Operations to assure that the sales area is supported with appropriate inventory and customer service levels. Reviews daily reports with CS team regularly to assure that local teams understand and review required reporting regularly.
  • Analyzes sales reports, financial statements and reports, and headcount reports and recommends changes to improve profitability and operating efficiencies.
  • Coordinates Budget development in Area, reviews branch budgets for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Interacts with corporate finance department to provide data and analysis and establish annual sales budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor compliance with Kaman Code of Business Conduct program and serves as Compliance officer.
  • Monitors sales incentive plans and calculates approved exceptions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.
  • Provide input on the design and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure that quality standards are met.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or related business experience
  • 6-8 years Industrial distribution industry (sales or customer service) with demonstrated leadership abilities, training and supervision
